Our Story
We started Performance by Design because we’ve led transformation and we know what it takes to make change stick.
Our strengths are aligned, but our skills and experience are intentionally different, and that’s what makes our partnership work. Between us, we bring decades of experience across strategy, leadership, operations, finance, customer experience, sales, and culture. We’ve led change from the inside and supported it from the outside, always with a focus on impact, alignment, and successful execution.
We met in 2021 while working together and quickly saw a strong alignment in our values and complementary strengths. Over the next four years, we worked closely together on some of the organisation’s most complex challenges, building trust, momentum, and a shared vision for what impactful business support could look like. When the time came for change, we both found new employment, but chose to follow our hearts. We knew we had more to offer, and we wanted to use our expertise to support many businesses, not just one. That’s what led us to start Performance by Design.

Vaughan is a natural connector with a talent for uncovering what makes a business truly stand out. With a background in sales and marketing, he brings deep expertise in business development, customer excellence, strategic positioning, and the development of compelling USPs. He has led high-performing sales teams, scaled startups, and helped businesses of all sizes sharpen their commercial focus and grow with confidence.
Charismatic and passionate, Vaughan brings energy, insight, and a healthy dose of challenge to every engagement. He thrives on unlocking potential and believes great business is built on clarity, alignment, and follow-through. Away from the whiteboard, he’s a scratch golfer, a keen gardener, a husband, and an avid cat-dad.
Kathryn Peat
Co-founder / Senior Consultant
Kathryn brings a sharp commercial lens and a deep understanding of what makes businesses relevant, resilient, and customer-focused. With a background in banking and decades of experience across sectors, she specialises in customer experience, business model design, value proposition development, and the diversification of revenue streams. Her work also extends to strategic partnerships and relationships, helping organisations create mutual value and long-term impact.
She has a unique ability to simplify the complex and create clarity where others see noise, always focused on delivering practical outcomes that matter. Grounded, thoughtful, and driven by making a meaningful difference, Kathryn is inspired daily by her two daughters. Outside of work and family, she loves being on the golf course or surrounded by her ever-expanding collection of houseplants.
